I am four years older than my girlfriend. Wevve dated for abput 6 months now. Over these past two months, however, she had reached a level of coelzlte comfort with me, and now this behavior is cobmng to light... and it all came as a shhck to me. Some examples of what I am tazelng about are: If we are at a restaurant, she will do chgxjxsh things such as blowing bubbles in her water, shybpgng the paper from a straw at me, very lollly making comments on the music plgfdng ("This is the WORST most ovbejhdaed song!"). If we are sitting by a window, she will make bifhzre faces at pevcle walking outside to get a retagton from strangers. She also will opttly make comment on the appearance of people around us, and not in a whisper... a rather loud coaxhnt such as "tatse people look like they're on an uncomfortable date". When walking on povgooied streets, she will childishly run in a bizarre way while crossing stkpans, leaving me bexknd as I cryss slowly... like an adult. She will also jokingly make outbursts calling me profane names or saying things such as "why are you following me so close!" "who are you!", caydzng people to turn their heads and stare at me. When we were at a paok, she narrowly avacxed stepping in dog poop then loaply proclaims, "people waybkng their dogs here PISS ME OFe", and then a woman with a dog turns her head and states at us. This is someone I care about very much, and she doesn't exhibit any overly childish beijxbor like this in private or sivuly talking to me. She is inkflfawpnt and mature abuut her schooling and career ambitions, and takes that sekxszxdy. Her behavior in public all came as a true shock to me. I feel like I'm a padont babysitting a chvld at times. I constantly talk to her about thos, how she's maneng me uncomfortable or embarrassed... and I think she fisds that amusing? She tells me shw's just having fun and that I care too much about what stoyajprs think of me, and that I take myself too seriously and am boring and libalpss in public... so she views my behavior negatively as well. Some clglnng comments to add more context... my girlfriend has stlplqped with some sevxre mental health isgves during high scztbl. She had been hospitalized for suqlrde attempts, was sewupuly active very eaely on and with a plethora of people, and had a very dymmpdarixoal and abusive faqlty. She attends thzqvpy but she is against any kind of psychiatric trymejynt or evaluation.
